Safety Manager - Global Facilities Construction Join to apply for the Safety Manager - Global Facilities Construction role at Burns & McDonnell Description The Global Facility Services (GFS) Safety & Health Section Manager is responsible for managerial direction and leadership of a Global Practice they are tasked with supporting within the Construction global practice. This includes supporting and executing business strategies, developing high performance teams, and promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture of safety as well as the BMCD mission and values across the organization. The Safety & Health Section Manager will lead their section in a dynamic and resourceful manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service. The Safety & Health Manager will oversee construction projects within our Global Facilities group, with a primary emphasis on ensuring safety during the construction of manufacturing plants. What You Will Do Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff. Responsible for facilitating growth of the section; ensuring staff levels, staff loading, and staff assignments meet project requirements while maintaining corporate, division and departmental goals. Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost, and establishing critical construction and/or self‑perform project objectives. Responsible for successful project execution and meeting established safety related goals as defined by corporate, divisional and departmental leadership, while providing expertise in support of our safety and health initiatives. Responsible for accurate communication between leadership and project management teams. Implement, apply and support company, global practice and/or regional office programs and initiatives; successfully navigating and managing change within their section. Achieve stated targets and standards for safety performance. Review workload and safety reports on a regular cadence to identify areas of improvement. Develop solutions and implement strategies to support and improve safety & health performance. Manage and present project issues, project status, risks, to all internal and external stakeholders; manage internal/external risk mitigation communication plan. Manage communication with governmental, industry, and public entities, and community relations on Safety & Health related matters. Responsible for collaborating with business development managers, business line leads, project managers, and site staff on safe execution of work. Conduct project safety audits and assessments as required. Recruitment, development, training and retention of staff. Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff. Qualifications Bachelor Degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related degree from an accredited program and 5 years related professional experience in design and/or project management required or; applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement required. Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients. Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change. Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective. Must be expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
