Phlebotomy TechnicianPay Range: $20.02hr - $21.20hrRequirement/Must Have:Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Responsibilities:Assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.Update patient information and maintain accurate records.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Review and understand physician orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and maintain specimen integrity for transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Skills:Phlebotomy.Venipuncture.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Data Entry.OSHA Compliance.Microsoft Office Suite.Qualification And Education:Valid Phlebotomy certification.High School Diploma or GED.
