Radiation Therapist Requirement Number: 0000209671 Category: Radiology / Imaging / Radiation Status: Per Diem (Hourly) Shift: Day Facility: RWJ New Brunswick Department: Radiation Oncology Pay Rate: $61.00 per hour Location: 165 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 (Morris Cancer Center) Job Overview Responsible for patient simulation and radiation treatment delivery. Qualifications – Required Graduate of a JCERT accredited school of radiation therapy. Certification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist in radiation therapy. CPR certification via American Heart Association. 2–5 years of radiation therapy experience. Essential Functions Check prescription, treatment plan, calculations, simulation/setup information, and signed consent before initiating radiation treatment. Accurately position patient and deliver the prescribed radiation dose. Document treatment data in patients’ daily radiation treatment record and keep charts updated. Review charts daily for changes to prescription, plans, calculations, and blocking. Obtain weekly portal films and/or images at intervals consistent with departmental policy. Ensure reviewed by attending radiation oncologist. Use ARIA system to schedule patient for simulation, treatment setup and delivery, and facilitate communication among oncology team. Use SCM and Premise to schedule patients and inform escort services. Explain radiation therapy process and simulation procedures to patients and obtain consent prior to simulation. Collect diagnostic films, labs and pathology reports prior to simulation. Apply patient positioning and immobilization devices for accurate reproduction. Use general CT scanner applications to obtain images for planning. Mark and tattoo patient to coordinates of computed isocenter via Voxel Q workstation. Document patient’s treatment position and positioning aids with digital photos and chart instructions. Coordinate and organize workflow between simulation, dosimetry, and treatment. Maintain CT scanner and workstations.
