Research Health Science Specialist

Overview Without Compensation Research Health Science Specialist in the Office of Research and Development (ORD). The VA Research Program promotes veteran-centered care and value-driven care across VA healthcare and community settings. Qualifications General experience coordinating medical research and quality improvement projects, collecting and documenting research data, and managing research project questions independently. Bachelor's or graduate degree in health sciences or allied sciences recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Volunteer or unpaid experience through National Service programs or similar organizations is also credited. Physical Requirements The work is predominantly sedentary. The employee will be required to sit comfortably, walk, stand, bend, and carry moderate-weight items such as binders and file boxes. Hand and eye coordination for delicate testing procedures may be required. Responsibilities Review and analyze healthcare system operating and financial data to accomplish specific projects or tasks. Present findings, outlining specific results, anticipated ramifications, correlating factors, and appropriate recommendations. Review data with appropriate staff to improve reliability and determine potential policy revisions or reviews. Prepare summary reports, memos, official letters, etc. in response to requirements or tasks. Develop and sustain communication with other VHA elements, representing the research interests and performing liaison activities.
