Manager, Finance - Radiation Oncology

Finance Manager, Radiation Oncology plays a critical leadership role within The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center by directing financial operations that support clinical departments and sections within Radiation Oncology. The Finance Manager, Radiation Oncology partners closely with departmental leadership, faculty, and administrative teams to ensure strong financial stewardship, compliance, and data-driven decision-making across a complex clinical environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in clinical and research finance with hands‑on experience supporting complex healthcare environments. Preferred qualifications include advanced proficiency with enterprise financial and clinical systems, strong analytical and reporting capabilities, and demonstrated success leading and developing finance teams. Experience supporting Radiation Oncology and clinical trials finance, including systems such as OnCore, is strongly preferred. Why Us? Responsibilities Financial Management & Budget Oversight Steward, analyze, forecast, and summarize financial data and key metrics to support Radiation Oncology departments and sections. Interpret financial results and recommend strategies to improve revenue and reduce operating expenses. Facilitate the annual budget process in partnership with department administrators and the division finance director. Guide Chairs, faculty, and staff on financial operations to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Provide guidance on fund expenditures through interpretation of institutional and regulatory policies. Financial Operations, Reporting & Systems Generate and analyze clinical and financial performance reports from OBIEE, PeopleSoft, EPIC, CAT Tool, and Radiation Oncology‑specific systems. Serve as a finance partner and backup to the division finance team with expertise in monthly performance drivers. Support setup, monitoring, and reconciliation of startup funds, philanthropy funds, endowments, and other departmental funds. Develop, implement, and evaluate financial workflows to safeguard institutional business practices and regulatory compliance. Establish and maintain document retention systems to support audits, reviews, and compliance reporting. Research & Clinical Trial Financial Support Serve as a delegate and resource to ensure clinical trial funds are properly established and managed. Act as a subject matter expert for the institutional clinical trial management system related to revenue and invoicing. Collaborate with research teams to ensure responsible financial stewardship of clinical research funds. Manage asset inventory and tracking for departmental and divisional resources. Procurement & Compliance Oversee procurement services for Radiation Oncology clinical departments. Act as a resource for proper purchasing and travel reimbursement procedures. Submit, monitor, and ensure compliance of Electronic Personnel Action Form actions, including hires, terminations, funding changes, and cost transfers. Participate in committees, working groups, and ad hoc projects as assigned. People Management & Collaboration Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, evaluation, and offboarding for direct reports. Develop workflows, cross‑training, and backup coverage to ensure continuity and efficiency. Foster a productive, professional, and collaborative work environment across matrixed structures. Collaborate effectively with division administrators, Chairs, department leaders, and institutional partners. Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field. Preferred: Master’s Degree Business Administration or related field. Work Experience Required: 5 years professional experience in finance, accounting or related field to include at least three years of supervisory or project management experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Other Requirements Must pass pre‑employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
