Seeking an Ophthalmic Tech to join our team!

Full time schedule: Needs to be open to starting as early as 7:45am if they are opening and stay as late as 5:45pm if they are closing

Ideal candidate:


Certified preferred but not a requirement
2+ years' as ophthalmic tech
Passionate and reliable.

* Prepare back-office exam rooms and equipment for patients and doctors.
* Follow-up and complete any paperwork, staff messages and back-office voicemails from previous day/evening.
* Properly document required patient health information of patients into EHR system at time of encounter, following established Company policy. Refer to the EHR Documentation by Department Policy.
* Properly document required patient health information on clinic forms at time of encounter, following established Company policy.
* Assist patients from front to back office to facilitate and maximize patient flow and reduce wait times and increase availability of testing and exam rooms for patients.
* Assist with prescription pre-authorizations.
* Maintain proficiency on all medical equipment, including OCT, IOL master, Visual Field machine, and Pentacam.
* Manage and document into EHR system all direct calls received from patients and all calls transferred from front office regarding medical eye emergencies, clinical questions, and prescription refills, consulting with doctors or other appropriate staff, when needed, to coordinate patient care following established EHR policies.
* Coordinate patient care with doctors and other staff members when scheduling in-office surgical procedures, future office visits, or authorizations for services.
* Assist front office with clerical duties, when needed.
* Comply with all HIPAA, PHI, and Company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
* Maintain the cataract surgery and laser surgery schedules, verifying accuracy of all appointment times, dates, and patient health information by following established Company policies.
* Ensure and verify that scheduled dates and times do not conflict with clinic schedule.
* Inform receptionists of all off-site surgeries scheduled.
* Prepare, distribute, and maintain stock of all patient pre-op instructions, consents, and post op kits.
* Review pre-op and post-op instructions and Consent Form with patient prior to procedure, obtaining signature on Consent Form once carefully reviewed with patient by back-office technician and doctor.
* Complete and communicate all necessary paperwork, including lenses and orders, to surgery center prior to surgery date and document in surgery book and patient's EHR.
* Request and obtain final approvals and/or authorizations for surgical procedures and assisting procedures.
* Complete all superbills for cataract and laser procedures on the day of procedure, submitting it to billing department and logging in surgery book.
* Review pre and post procedure instructions with the patient.
* Obtain patient's signature on Consent Form once carefully reviewed with patient and given doctor approval.
* Prepare patients for procedures as instructed by doctor.
* Prepare minor surgery room for procedure.
