Outside Sales Representative: Detroit, MI Territory

Grow profitability through the addition of new programs and accounts within a defined geographic territory or automotive division for products and services offered by Steel Technologies, including flat rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, valued added parts, and toll processing services. Meet or exceed revenue, profit, and return on working capital targets, as agreed to with management. Collaborate and communicate with your Support Team to ensure excellent customer support. Monitor competitive activities and trends within territory or division and communicate to management.

Must be located in any of the geographical locations: Detroit, MI

Duties and responsibilities:

• Grow business
• Develop your knowledge of the market and our industry
• Collaborate with your Support Team to ensure excellent customer service
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Ability to work independently
• Sales professional with knowledge and understanding of sales, sales techniques, relationship building, and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and teammates
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of steel and other flat rolled metal products
• Time management and proactive planning required
• Consistent in-person client engagement with timely and strategic outreach
• Ability to prospect and cold call
• Professional accountability, both internal and external
• 60-80% local travel within the territory required. Overnight travel as needed and where appropriate to support the geographic territory.

Education and experience:

Prefer a Bachelor's degree in a related field and one to five years of experience in sales. Formal education may be substituted with experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.

Working conditions:

This work is performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people. Steel Technologies is a safety-sensitive workplace. All employment offers are contingent upon results of a 10-panel drug screening, including marijuana.
