Kind of Work Under general direction of the Recreation Administrator, this employee coordinates, develops, monitors and evaluates all phases of the major organized athletic activities in either the East or West Bank divisions. Supervises subordinates such as center supervisors, clerical personnel, and Recreation Program Supervisors. Will be required to prepare budgets, act as program compliant coordinator, coordinate travel arrangements, maintain favorable relationships with Booster and other organizations, supervise all contractual personnel and officials, prepare various reports, review supply requisitions, coordinate athletic bookings with Central Bookings, arrange for I.D.'s, develops rules, evaluate programs, and perform related work as required. Minimum Qualifications For Admission To Examination Current employment and permanent civil services status with Jefferson Parish in a lower directly related supervisory class of work above the level of Recreation Center Supervisor, Assistant. A current valid Louisiana driver's license* and an acceptable driving record are also required. NOTE: A valid driver's license issued by a state other than Louisiana is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant has ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. Failure to obtain a Louisiana license will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position. Kind of Examination

Employees of equal or higher job classifications who otherwise meet the above qualification requirements may apply and qualify but will be placed on an entrance eligibility list. The examination will consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled tests. The Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality of all experience and training claimed.

Vacation (Annual Leave) Employees accumulate one half day of paid vacation for every two weeks worked. Leave accrual rates increase with years of service. Any unused annual leave is usually paid upon separation from Parish Employment. Sick Leave Employees accumulate one half day of paid sick leave for every two weeks worked. Sick leave is available for personal illness, injury or medical consultations. Holidays Nine paid official holidays are observed, plus any holidays declared by Parish Officials. Life Insurance All regular employees receive a life insurance policy equal to one year's salary. Extra insurance may be purchased. Medical Insurance An HMO medical insurance plan is avalable for employees and their dependents. Jefferson Parish pays 80% of the premium for employees and 50% of the premiums for dependents. A Flexible Benefits Plan Employees have the opportunity to save money by paying for health insurance and optional insurance with pre-tax dollars. A Flexible Savings Account for Medical Expenses and Dependent Care is also available. Retirement Most regular employees belong to the Parochial Employees' Retirement System instead of the Social Security System. For employees hired after January 01, 2007, a pension calculated at 3% of salary per year of service is provided upon retirement at age 67 with 7 years of service, age 62 with 10 years of service, or age 55 with 30 years of service. Tenure Payment Employees are paid $25 per year of service in December of each year. Employees must have worked two years before the first check is paid. Deferred Compensation Plan (457b plan) Similar to 401K programs, the 457b Deferred Plan allows employees to defer up to $14,000 of pretax income each year to supplement retirement savings.
