Quick Facts Location: 800 West 5th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99204 Start Date: 09/10/2026 End Date/Duration: Multiple rotations through March 29, 2027 Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM Schedule Details: Coverage includes mornings, rotations with call obligations (every third weekday and every fourth weekend), with on-call duties from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM Hours/Week: Approximately 40 hours Employment Type: Contract Licenses/Certs: Active Physician Assistant license Experience: Prior experience in cardiothoracic or ICU settings preferred Pay & Benefits Pay Rate: $1.00/hour Benefits: Weekly pay via direct deposit Comprehensive medical benefits (W-2) Paid sick leave in accordance with law Licensure, certification, travel, and other reimbursements when applicable Robust referral bonus program and dedicated support team What You’ll Do Perform daily rounds, managing patient progress and documentation Assist with complex cardiothoracic surgeries including Robotic Lobectomy, Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, Valve Replacements, and ECMO procedures Manage post-operative care and discharge patients Support multidisciplinary teams in ICU and OR settings Attend to emergent cases during call shifts Lead pre- and post-operative patient management, including chest tube care and discharge summaries Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care What You Need Required: Valid Physician Assistant license in Washington Prior experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgical settings Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and call duties Preferred: Experience with robotic surgeries and ICU care Strong teamwork and communication skills About the Assignment This position involves working in a dynamic, multidisciplinary cardiothoracic surgery team with four surgeons, focusing on a range of complex procedures such as TAVR, thoracotomies, LVAD implantations, and aortic dissection repairs. Rounding and discharge duties are performed daily, with specific responsibilities in ICU and OR environments. The schedule includes both operative and consultative roles, supporting patient recovery from pre-op to discharge.
