Senior Accountant

Role Description: The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial records and supporting timely financial reporting. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this position manages assigned areas of the general ledger and close process, prepares account reconciliations and financial analysis, resolves accounting issues, and partners with cross-functional teams to improve financial workflows and support the Company’s continued growth. Support the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring assigned activities are completed accurately and timely. Prepare and post journal entries and complete account reconciliations for cash, prepaid expenses, payroll, fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and other general ledger accounts. Participate in the monthly accounting for digital sales channels, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and related sales and payment activity analysis. Perform inventory and cost-of-goods-sold accounting, including general ledger reconciliations, cutoff analysis, investigation of variances, and preparation of inventory-related schedules. Coordinate the accounting and reconciliation of employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit card transactions, ensuring appropriate documentation and adherence to company policies. Assist the VP of Finance with the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package, account analysis, variance explanations, and business insights to support strategic decision-making. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for borrowing-base calculations, bank audits, tax filings, and other special projects. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, reconciling items, and other issues affecting the accuracy of the general ledger. Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and support effective internal controls and accounting procedures in accordance with GAAP, applicable regulations, tax requirements, and company policies. Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, automate recurring tasks, strengthen reporting, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. Perform other accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Three to five years of progressive general accounting experience, preferably in a consumer-products, Strong knowledge of GAAP, general-ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial-reporting principles. Experience with month-end close, inventory accounting, and financial-statement preparation and analysis. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Aptean Full Circle ERP or a comparable ERP system preferred. CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, ownership, sound judgment, and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements: Light lifting of up to 10 pounds may occasionally be required. Frequent engagement in verbal communication and active listening. Flexible scheduling may be necessary, with potential workdays extending beyond 8 hours and exceeding a five-day workweek, based on company needs.
