Tentative Schedule: Every 4 th Saturday. Ability to pick up additional shifts. Job Summary: The Staff Pharmacist position at the Osceola Clinic Pharmacy will work in our retail pharmacy setting, serving patients of Osceola Medical Center and the community. This position will have a set rotation of Saturdays, with the ability to pick up additional shifts during the week. Provide exceptional customer service and care. Provide pharmacy services to patients and medical practitioners. Fill prescriptions, dispense medications, counsel patients and medical practitioners regarding the nature and use of medications, and train and/or supervise pharmacy support personnel. Prepares and maintains all necessary records on prescriptions according to pharmacy rules and regulations. Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications: BS or PharmD degree from an accredited school of pharmacy Competent in use of supplies provided Preferred Experience: 1-3 years retail and/or pharmacy experience. Currently licensed (or pursuing licensure) to practice pharmacy in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Responsibilities include: Job-specific duties: Prepares and/or oversees the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications to patients. Makes decisions regarding generic substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals. Processing prescription medication orders in pharmacy computer system. Counsels patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate. Supervise pharmacy technicians and clerks and check work correctly and in a timely manner. Obtaining refill authorizations from providers. Administer immunizations to patients as requested/ordered. Complete sale of prescriptions and OTC products at register. Replenish supplies as needed for department. Adhere to state and federal legal requirements. Prioritizes workload to adhere to budgeted hours. Reports to work on time. Assist in training new staff and provide appropriate feedback as necessary. Maintains open communication with manager. Provides annual self-assessment. Completes required facility education. Maintains licensure, completes required CE. Works independently, addresses issues appropriately in manager’s absence. Completes/makes progress on assigned project work. Knowledgeable and helps develop and maintain policies, procedures, forms, programs and plans for department. Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers. Utilize appropriate communication methods to ensure messages are delivered accurately. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Process prescriptions in the computer system Accurately prepare and label prescriptions Counsel patients/providers on medications Ability to prioritize, make critical decisions & respond quickly Ability to communicate effectively, orally and written Ability to handle frequent interruptions & adapt to changes in workload Ability to meet pharmaceutical needs of all types of patients Ability to work independently Ability to work cooperatively with pharmacy personnel and providers Knowledge of medications and reference resources Ordering of medications and supplies Physical Requirements for the Role: Must possess mobility to safely work in and move about in the pharmacy setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer Standing for prolonged periods of time Reaching out by extending hands or arms in any direction Manual dexterity required to manipulate small objects such as a keyboard or counting medication Strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds Communication skills using spoken word, both in person and over the phone Visual ability to read materials in either a printed format or on a computer screen Ability to hear well enough to carry on a normal conversation, both in person and on the phone Ability to concentrate and maintain attention to detail despite frequent interruptions The pharmacy department is kept secure by limited badge entry, alarm system, and locked doors. Potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials, hazardous or toxic substances such as chemotherapy medications or cleaning solutions, potential for needle sticks.
