Strategic Initiatives Graduate Intern - Health Department

Job Summary Public Health Program Intern – Pima County Health Department Unclassified position, $18.00 per hour, part‑time (20–30 hours per week). This grant‑funded role will support the department’s strategic plan and workforce development efforts through implementation, monitoring, and reporting. The internship runs until 10/29/27. Key Responsibilities Lead the implementation and monitoring of the department’s strategic plan. Track progress and prepare reports and presentations for community events, conferences, and internal meetings. Assess employee desk procedures and support employee growth through training programs aligned with national public health standards. Collaborate with department teams to improve performance and ensure compliance with public health accreditation standards. Essential Functions Will perform a variety of administrative, operational or technical tasks as assigned by the department, consistent with the public health mission. Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program (Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or related field). Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year institution. Documented education and experience must clearly meet the stated requirements. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, management, or business administration. Experience facilitating group meetings, focus groups, community forums, and working in multidisciplinary, multicultural, multi‑sector partnerships. Experience leading strategic planning initiatives in non‑profit, public, or private organizations. Experience collaborating with and maintaining intradepartmental relationships. Minimum one year of experience in paraprofessional or professional administration. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Additional Information Position may require a valid Arizona Class D driver’s license; failure to obtain/maintain will result in termination. Post‑appointment, applicants must provide proof of immunization and/or TB screening. Physical and sensory requirements will be determined by the position.
