Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Small Animal Internal Medicine. This appointment may be tenure-track or non-tenure-track, depending on the candidate’s professional goals and interests. The successful candidate will complete a collaborative team of four internists, two residents and one Internal Medicine Intern that provides advanced clinical care for small animal patients through the Companion Animal Clinic. Faculty members participate in the teaching of small animal medicine, clinical skills, and elective courses within the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) curriculum. In addition to clinical and didactic teaching responsibilities, all small animal faculty members serve as clinical mentors for interns and residents, fostering a supportive learning environment that emphasizes professional growth, clinical excellence, and lifelong learning. Our Internal Medicine service is supported by a growing specialty hospital that includes Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Primary Care, Physical Rehabilitation, and Anesthesiology services, providing a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The Companion Animal Clinic is a modern and innovative veterinary hospital for small animals. The 110,000 sq. ft. building contains state-of-the-art medical, surgical, internal medicine, dental, and urgent care facilities. Additional patient services include anesthesiology neurology, physical therapy, cardiology, therapeutic plasma exchange, shelter medicine, clinical pathology, and microbiology. In addition to outstanding clinical facilities and equipment, the Companion Animal Clinic houses a pharmacy, a large and well-equipped surgery teaching laboratory, simulated examination rooms for clinical communications training using standardized clients/patients, and ample conference and small-group meeting rooms. Adjacent to the Companion Animal Clinic is the Large Animal Clinic, which houses large animal teaching and treatment facilities, and small herds of cattle and horses. The Diagnostic Pathology Center offers a full range of anatomical pathology and forensic pathology services and contains ample teaching spaces.
