The Director of Facility Operations oversees physical plant, life safety, environmental services, transportation safety, and capital execution across assigned skilled nursing facilities. This role ensures buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure remain safe, compliant, functional, and survey ready at all times. The position provides hands-on leadership for plant operations, emergency response, regulatory compliance, vendor management, and project execution across multiple sites. The role partners closely with Administrators, Plant Operations Directors, Environmental Services leaders, and regional leadership to protect residents, staff, and assets while maintaining cost control and operational consistency.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee 5 or more skilled nursing facilities, providing hands-on leadership for plant operations, environmental services, transportation safety, and infrastructure.

• Directly manage, coach, and hold accountable Plant Operations Directors and Environmental Services leadership, ensuring appropriate staffing, training, and performance standards.

• Lead response to emergencies, security incidents, and operational disruptions, ensuring root cause analysis and timely, documented corrective actions.

• Maintain continuous compliance and survey readiness for Life Safety Code, OSHA, State Fire Marshal, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

• Ensure all required binders, permits, logs, inspections, drills, and documentation remain accurate, complete, and survey ready.

• Oversee emergency preparedness, disaster response, water management, and life safety systems, including generators, fire alarms, suppression systems, emergency lighting, and evacuation plans.

• Manage the vehicle safety program for facility-owned vans, including driver qualifications, training, inspections, preventive maintenance, incident investigations, and insurance coordination.

• Oversee capital projects, renovations, new construction, and infrastructure improvements, including contractor selection, vendor negotiation, plan review, site visits, and project execution.

• Monitor facility conditions through regular site visits, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities, identifying and resolving safety, HVAC, fire, and structural risks.

• Oversee TELS planning and execution, contribute to regional budgets, monitor costs and variances, and identify operational efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities for ownership review.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing multi-site SNF facility operations, plant operations, or comparable regulated environments.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Life Safety Code, fire marshal requirements, OSHA, emergency preparedness, and vehicle safety programs.

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with regulators, engineers, vendors, administrators, and ownership.

• Proven ability to manage contractors, negotiate vendor agreements, and oversee capital projects.

• Strong organizational skills with consistent follow-through and documentation discipline.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between facilities.

• Skilled nursing facility experience required.

Work Environment

• Majority of work occurs on-site within assigned facilities.

• Toledo, Ohio Based

• Role is field-based, not office-based.

• Some remote work permitted for reporting and planning when appropriate.

• Schedule may vary based on emergencies, surveys, and project timelines.

• Regular exposure to mechanical rooms, construction areas, and active work sites.
