Maintenance Mechanic

Job Title

Pay Range: $29.31hr - $34.31hr

Requirements/Must Have:
  • Technical degree.
  • 2+ years experience in maintenance.
  • Experience working in Manufacturing/cleanroom (preferred).
  • HVAC and Carpentry experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding customer service to the manufacturing and support groups in all areas of the plant through preventative/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrading of plant processing, packaging, and filling line equipment.
  • Serve as a technical resource to the plant, division manufacturing and engineering groups.
  • Repair gear heads and reducers, run all types of piping including XX iron, stainless steel, copper, PVC and flexible tubing.
  • Install various components including seals, bearings, o-rings, gaskets, adhesives, belts, chains, rollers, sprockets, gears and sheaves.
  • Troubleshoot and repair/rebuild centrifugal/positive displacement pumps.
  • Weld stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, fabricate guards, etc.
  • Cut metal with a plasma cutter or torch, wire and repair electric motors, repair basic wiring and replace lighting fixtures and lamps.
  • Correctly size fusing, motor overload protection and wire size per National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Read electrical schematics and wire directly from wiring diagrams.
  • Use electrical and precision tools to complete assigned work.
  • Perform repairs to production equipment and plant utility systems, troubleshooting complex, high-speed filling, packaging and conveying equipment.
  • Make machine adjustments to liquid line seamers, bottle sealers and bottle cappers.
  • Adjust timing systems such as rotary sterilizers.
  • Ensure proper operation of electrical / mechanical components and devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair barcode scanners and video-jet ink printers.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the shop.
  • Accountable for maintaining various hand tools and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Be flexible to meet business needs and work occasional overtime, weekend or extended hours.
  • Manage daily assigned routine preventative maintenance tasks on equipment/facilities.
  • Respond to alarm or trouble calls as required and maintain a strong floor presence.
  • Function as a member of the Maintenance Team and assist as necessary to accomplish production goals and throughput initiatives.
  • Address production stop situations and troubleshoot causes of malfunction in equipment.
  • Participate in implementing corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Maintain good knowledge of equipment in the production area.
  • Attend to applicable training needs to maintain consistent service to production equipment/areas of focus.
  • Escort and assist outside repair persons in the performance of their duties in production areas.
  • Maintain appropriate records of work, keep inventory of spare parts and materials.
