This office prosecutes federal crimes and defends the interests of the United States government in civil cases. SDCA encompasses San Diego and Imperial Counties and an Imperial branch office. Qualifications You must be a United States Citizen or National. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication (fingerprint, credit, tax checks, drug testing). Continued employment requires favorable adjudication. You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable. J.D. degree and active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction). Must reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof. Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1 year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: Quick analytical ability and aptitude for accurately articulating critical issues in a case. Superior oral and writing skills, strong research, interpersonal skills, good judgment. Excellent communication and courtroom skills, ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with attorneys, support staff, and client agencies. Excellent computer literacy skills, including automated research, electronic court filing, e‑mail and word processing. Salary Assistant United States Attorney pay is administratively determined based in part on years of professional attorney experience. The basic pay range is $87,671 to $197,100 per annum, which includes a 33.72% locality pay. Other Details Number of Positions: Many Travel: Occasional travel may be expected.
