Come be a part of our mission!Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Maritime Systems & Integration (MS&I) E&S organization and serve as the Charlottesville E&S Site Lead. This position reports to the Naval Systems Engineering Director and is in Charlottesville, VA.The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the geographically distributed, highly dynamic, multi-discipline engineering team. The engineering team is responsible for hardware & software development, production support and shipboard integration & test for Navy and USCG surface and subsurface fleet.In this role, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for the following:Lead the development and implementation of the program(s) technical roadmap strategyStaff appropriately and enable resource sharing across multiple business areasLead strategic actions to improve the business of engineeringDrive engineering strategy and practices pertinent to the MS&I E&S organization, including but not limited to investments and talent strategyDrive key talent development and workforce planning effortsElevate engineering rigorDrive predictable financial and program resultsPrioritize engineering investments aligned with strategic imperativesDemonstrate thought leadership on digital transformationPositions may require travel up to 25% of the time to support distributed teamCandidates must have exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills, strategic thinking, strong technical acumen, and the ability to lead multiple engineering disciplines across programs. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and therefore must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation experience and the demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the organization. The candidate must have the ability to build consensus and resolve conflict. The candidate must collaborate with business area leadership, and other functional partners to resolve complex issues in a timely manner to help meet program commitments.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.U.S. Citizen with an active Government Secret Clearance3 years of professional experience in the defense or aerospace industries2 years demonstrated success managing technical teams2 years of experience working in a technical roleProven experience as a team player and collaboratorVery strong engineering background with demonstrated experience managing through requirements development, design and productionSolid understanding of engineering process with execution experiencePreferred Qualifications:Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields.Program management experienceSuccess as a leader of large functional organizationExperience managing large control accounts with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical performanceExperience with product line management and product line engineeringDemonstrated success in creating and executing affordability initiativesNGFeaturedJobsPrimary Level Salary Range: $166,700.00 - $250,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
