Buyers Edge Platform is seeking a Division Controller to support our Fresh Division, which includes a portfolio of brands focused on fresh produce and perishable supply chain solutions. This role will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations and controls, and driving scalable accounting processes across a complex, multi-entity environment. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of division accounting and reporting, serving as a mentor to junior staff and a trusted partner to the VP of Finance and division and brand leadership.

This position is ideally based in our Bannockburn, IL office (hybrid, 3 days/week). We are unable to offer work sponsorship for this role.

The Buyer's Edge Platform Fresh Division is an entity comprised of Fresh Concepts, Produce Alliance, Fresh Alliance & Fresh Services with over 35 years of produce management solutions. The Fresh Division provides fresh produce category management services, procurement and contracting, national distribution, freight management, k-12 solutions, technology services, and food safety assurance to food service clients across North America, the Caribbean and beyond. The Fresh Division has a national footprint of over 125+ industry leading distributors in North America, and partnerships with the most premier grower shippers.

Your impact:

• Management Responsibilities:
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on division and brand initiatives.
  • Serve as a key partner in integrating newly acquired businesses into the division.

• Accounting and Reporting:
  
  • Oversee the month-end close process — preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis for division/brand accounting.
  • Maintain and improve processes to support accurate and timely completion of monthly close activities and internal controls.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and the timely completion of account reconciliations in an audit-ready state.

• Process Improvement:
  • Support division and brand initiatives to improve system and process efficiency and net working capital management.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance policies and procedures, drive automation, and improve reporting accuracy.

• Internal Controls & Compliance:
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls across accounting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee audit requests for the Fresh Division and support the consolidated audit process.

About you:

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification desirable.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including in a supervisory capacity.
