Systems Engineer

Our client in Buffalo, NY, is looking for a Systems Engineer to join their growing team!


This is an on-site/full-time/direct hire position
Salary range based on experience: $65k-$85k


We're looking for a seasoned Systems Engineer t o support and improve Microsoftbased environments, handle complex escalations, and help elevate our service delivery standards.



Responsibilities

• Support and administer Windows Server/Client, AD, Microsoft 365/Exchange, SQL, RDS
• Manage monitoring, patching, backups, performance, and capacity
• Troubleshoot escalations across servers, networking, identity, and security
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational standards
• Support HyperV/VMware and contribute to automation (PowerShell/RMM)
• Strengthen security: MFA, identity hardening, patching, endpoint protection
• Manage Microsoft Entra, conditional access, and Azure workload optimization
• Participate in oncall rotation after 3 months

Qualifications

• 6+ years in IT/System Engineering (Microsoftfocused)
• Experience with HyperV or VMware
• PowerShell and automation/RMM proficiency
• Strong networking fundamentals (DNS/DHCP, VPN, firewalls)
• Solid cybersecurity awareness and operational discipline
• Strong communication, organization, and problemsolving skills
