The position also supports modifications and revisions to current systems and products. Performs complex and routine engineering design and analysis tasks with standard techniques. Works with other engineers and designers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods and reports, as well as model shop to produce prototypes and testingThe Lead Engineer position offers a variety of engineering opportunities including product development, technical leadership, testing, design, analysis, 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and prototyping.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides guidance/direction to a team of engineers including driving technology and project completion on time and budgetProvides guidance/direction to a team of engineers including driving technology and project completion on time and budgetDevelop system architecture including schematics, concept designs, and block diagramsDirects technical activities of assigned CAD designers and techniciansIncorporates customer requirements into planning and workDesigns, develops, analyzes, documents, and supports testing of products, systems or subsystemsProactively leads initiatives, and identifies and mitigates riskReports on project progress and statusDevelops Basis Of Estimate (BOE) documents and participates in complex proposal preparationReviews customer specifications and requirements, and, under direction, develops designs to best support themFollow standard project management practices including developing and maintaining Gantt charts and rolling action item listsDesign mechanical components, assemblies, and complete products in 3D design software [SolidWorks experience preferred)Create/edit models, schematics, and drawings using 3D and 2D design software [SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience preferred]Use Product Data Management (PDM) software to comply with company revision control practices and ISO processes [SolidWorks EPDM experience preferred]Create/edit BOMs using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software [SAP experience preferred]Understanding of air conditioner rating testing (ASHRAE Standard 37) a significant plusEducation/Experience / Skills / AbilitiesBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering minimum; MSME and passed FE/PE preferred8-10 years experienceCustom equipment engineering design proficiency and experience.Ability to work autonomously, prioritize work assignments, and multi-task to meet deadlinesDemonstrated 3D CAD design experience (Solid Works is preferred)Enterprise Requirements Planning (ERP) software proficiency (SAP preferred)Understand manufacturing processes including sheet metal forming, welding, mechanical fasteners (Sheetmetal background is a plus)Interest in HVAC and Refrigeration equipment with understanding of HVAC\R systems and design a significant plusUnderstanding of air conditioner rating testing (ASHRAE Standard 37) a significant plusBasic knowledge of system controls is a plusBasic knowledge of electrical schematics and diagrams is a plusMust be willing and able to give and receive feedback to/from shop floor personnelKnowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-464 is preferredPossesses effective oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees, and managers at all levels of the companyAbility to problem solve with little informationPossesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)Experience working with engineering project management toolsAvailable for limited travelDisclaimer: This job description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required for this role.This position requires access to or use of export-controlled technical data or technology controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
