Unit Details Neuroscience Acute Care unit teamwork model allows close work with all members of the team to provide the highest level of acuity and care for all patients. UCMC has been named the Preferred Neuroscience institution in the area, and the Neuroscience Acute Care unit is also a Level 4 Epilepsy Center. Neuroscience Acute Care provides an opportunity to expand academic knowledge in a medical center and allows a teaching environment, as the region's first comprehensive stroke center. Location Cincinnati, OH, United States Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Associate’s Degree, the minimum required Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred Current OH RN License Current BLS/ACLS/PALS certification Responsibilities Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises, and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with other healthcare team members and the patient/family within the time‑frame indicated by the unit's standards of practice. Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and establishes priorities of care based on the patient's assessment and needs. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs, or those associated with religious/cultural norms. Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit. Documents the nursing process accurately and concisely, including evaluation of treatment in accordance with hospital policy and procedure. Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
