Hiring Department Council on Selection University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine Job Description Vision The Assistant Director of Recruitment and Campus visits will applyevidence-based practices in recruitment and collaborate across theUMKC School of Medicine programs to recruitment studentsrepresentative of the state of Missouri and region and the needs ofthe programs they are being recruited to. Description The Assistant Director of Recruitment and Campus visits recruitsfor the BA/MD, MD, AA, PA, and graduate programs at the Universityof Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine. These programs servestudents across three UMKC SOM Missouri campuses: Kansas City,Columbia, and St. Joseph. The school is best known for itsaccelerated six-year BA/MD program, which matriculates 105 studentsdirectly from high school each year. Admissions is housed withinthe Office of Student Affairs, and The Assistant Director ofRecruitment and Campus visits reports to the Assistant Dean ofAdmissions. The Assistant Director of Recruitment is supported by aRecruitment Coordinator, and works closely with the BA/MD, MD, AAand PA program directors. Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Provide vision, leadership, and direction for recruitmentprograms in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Admissions andprogram directors. Foster a culture of inclusive excellence during recruitmentprocesses. Partner with Student Affairs, Council on Evaluation, Committeeon Progression, and the Council on Curriculum to identify factorsaffecting student progression and incorporate findings intorecruiting practices. Collaborate on public relations and marketing activities toensure effective and accurate representation of the school inrecruiting efforts. Operational Leadership Manages the day-to-day operations of the School of Medicinerecruitment initiatives. Provides direction to the Admissions teamon weekly recruitment events and logistics. Coordinates operationsof recruitment portal and Slate CRM database. Supervises theRecruitment Coordinator through delegation and taskmanagement. Develops, plans, and directs School of Medicine recruitmentefforts for all academic programs, including creating presentationsand leading Campus Visit Days, evening receptions, andcounselor/advisor events. Works closely with UMKC's GeneralAdmissions office in collaboration with joint visits and events.Provides weekly presentations and individual appointments forprospective students. Oversees recruitment initiatives focused on earlydecision/Scholars programs, maintains contact with academicadvisors at partner institutions, plans events with studentorganizations at partner institutions, and identifies methods forincreasing awareness of program. Collaborates with representativesat Schools of Nursing, Dentistry, and Pharmacy to execute HealthScience District events in collaboration with externalorganizations such as PrepKC. Develops and maintains strongliaisons with School of Medicine and UMKC admissions personnel.Instructs and advises support staff on relevant recruitmentactivities. Researches, develops, and travels to recruitment events,including college fairs, high school visits, and evening receptionsin Missouri, Kansas, and other locations as identified.Collaborates with the recruitment Coordinator for the St. Josephregional campus for recruitment activities for that campus.Dedicates significant amount of time and preparation to statewidetravel with the Dean of the school of Medicine. Manages, selects, trains, and advises 80+ current studentsserving as volunteer representatives in the School of MedicineStudent Ambassador program. Researches national and specialized recruitment trends, andoversees the implementation and evaluation of recruitmentinitiatives for both professional and graduate programs in theSchool of Medicine. Develops and provides regular reporting ofapplication and admissions statistics to School of Medicineadministration and other relevant stakeholders. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of successful policies and procedures in use inhigher education as related to student recruitment. Project management and team-building skills, as well as theability to work cooperatively with all constituencies in a uniqueenvironment of multiple programs functioning on 3 campuses. Knowledge of student privacy regulations (FERPA) isrequired. A strong work ethic, an approachable leadership style, and aconsistent focus on the school’s immediate and strategicgoals. Interpersonal and communication approaches that incorporatetact and diplomacy. Willingness to learn and follow University policies related torecruitment. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education andexperience, along with at least four years of experience inrecruitment, student affairs, higher education, or a closelyrelated field from which comparable knowledge and skills can beacquired, is required. Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been establishedas $55,000 - $60,000 annually Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but notlimited to, the individual’s particular combination of education,skills, and experience, as well as organizationalrequirements.
