General Accountant IThe General Accountant I is responsible for performing basic accounting tasks and supporting the accounting department in maintaining accurate financial records. This entry-level role involves assisting with accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The General Accountant I works under close supervision and collaborates with other finance team members to support the overall financial operations of the organization.Essential FunctionsAssist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations.Prepare and post journal entries as directed by management.Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.Support the preparation of financial reports and statements.Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.Assist in the preparation of tax filings and audits as needed.Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting files and documentation.Respond to inquiries from internal departments and external vendors or customers regarding accounting transactions.Perform other related duties as assigned to support the accounting team.Support audit proceduresAd Hoc analysis as requiredQualificationsAssociate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.Good organizational and time management skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Willingness to learn and take directions from senior accounting staff.Prior internship or entry-level experience in accounting is a plus but not required.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to follow all safety requirementsAbility to use standard office equipment (copier, fax, telephone, computer, etc.)Ability to travel as required (driving, flying, etc.)Work EnvironmentManufacturing shop and office environmentExposure to noise, fumes, and dust, while in the manufacturing facility.Office environment is usually quiet.
