Dental Assistant

Job Title

Under general direction, assists and anticipates the needs of Dentists and other providers in the provision of patient care. Assists in the coordination and operation of the Clinic or Dental Operating Room setting. Performs advanced dental functions under New York State licensure.

Job Description

Responsibilities include providing chair side or operating room assistance to Dentists and other providers, maintaining sterile environment and aseptic technique, utilizing "four-handed" technique, and working as a team with the Dentist. Other duties include maintaining inventory of clinic equipment, instruments, forms, and supplies, anticipating day-to-day needs, setting up specialized equipment for documentation of vital signs, taking intra-oral, extra-oral, panorex radiographs, performing instrument sterilization, collecting and entering data for quality assurance, and supporting research activities.

Compensation

UR URCA 205 H, $20.30 - $27.41

Minimum Education & Experience

High School diploma or High School student in good academic standing required, 1 year experience as a Dental Assistant or in an Operating Room environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid work permit upon hire required.
