Service Writer

Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for operating the service desk, creating repair orders and assigning work in an efficient manner. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Keep maintenance information systems updated with ETA's at all times
• Observe all Company safety requirements
• Perform other duties as required or assigned
• Advise operations/customer of needed service work or repair campaigns, as well as suggest additional labor, parts and body shop sales whenever possible (i.e. Preventive Maintenance Inspections, related service work, etc.)
• Inform the Service Manager of all driver/customer complaints in order to be resolved before the vehicle leaves the shop
• Input repair order information to data processing system and close repair orders
• Coordinate repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for proper work scheduling of shop operations; ensure drivers/customers receive the most expedient service available through questioning and understanding repair requests
• Arrange and create outsource forms for vendors to conduct repairs at the shop
• Assist drivers and callers with general questions and/or direction
• Create repair orders and passing work to technicians

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED; or up to 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education

Ability to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed

Basic Customer Service Skills Ability to fulfill physical requirements of the job including: lifting above 50 lbs., bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $21.15 - $26.45 Don't let distance keep you from becoming a part of our team! Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates located outside a 50-mile radius of the job.

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
