Senior SDET Backend Tester

The Senior SDET Backend Tester will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting large-scale enterprise applications.

This role requires strong expertise in backend testing, automation, CI/CD practices, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver highly reliable systems at scale.

Essential Functions:

• Perform technical detail design, coding, and testing of applications while serving as a subject matter expert for internal and customer discussions related to maintaining and enhancing existing software systems.
• Develop and analyze interface design documentation and ensure compliance with hardware and software system standards, DevOps practices, migration standards, and code quality policies.
• Deliver large-scale systems supporting tens of thousands of users.
• Perform software analysis including requirements analysis, use case development, and design.
• Implement and document source code aligned with design specifications.
• Develop, execute, and maintain automated unit tests and structured automated test cases.
• Compile, assess, and report data results from software testing and analysis.
• Develop software solutions for enterprise environments and analyze functional and non-functional requirements such as performance and availability.
• Perform operations and maintenance of existing systems and identify opportunities for improvement and streamlining.
• Demonstrate experience with front-end and back-end programming, integration frameworks, and testing tools.
• Assist in estimating development efforts for application features.
• Provide technical support for high-visibility and critical production issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, highly reliable software solutions.
• Recommend and implement new technologies and extend open-source libraries where necessary.
• Participate in product scoping, architecture, and roadmap discussions.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, trends, and best practices.
• Mentor junior software engineers.

Qualifications:

• Ability to successfully perform all essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, coding, compilation, software architecture and design, user requirements definition, and software specification development.
• In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required beyond the stated experience requirement.

• Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, C, and Python.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.
• Advanced knowledge of database technologies including SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and cloud databases.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Advanced knowledge of test-first practices including Test-Driven Development and Behavior-Driven Development.
• Extensive experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Delivery tools and frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of code quality, release, and promotion practices.
