Mechanical Technician

Overview Position: Secret Mechanical Facilities Technician Location: onsite in San Antonio, TX at JBSA-Lackland Salary: $75,000-89,000/year (depending on experience) Must Haves: Active Secret clearance (or previously held a security clearance through the DoD) 3+ years of mechanical experience within federal/DoD facilities (data center, hospital, etc.) Experience with centrifugal chillers greater than 300 tons and boilers Active EPA certification Active Electrical and/or Mechanical TDLR, Journeyman, or Master license/certification Day-to-Day As a key member of the data center operations team, your daily responsibilities will center on ensuring the mechanical systems supporting critical infrastructure are maintained and operating at peak efficiency. Performing planned preventative maintenance and daily corrective work on mechanical systems, such as HVAC units, chillers, pumps, and other facility equipment. Responding to emergency situations involving mechanical failures to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operation of mission-critical systems. Using hand tools and test equipment to install, troubleshoot, and repair new or replacement parts for existing mechanical units. Reading and reviewing blueprints, mechanical riser drawings, and job specifications to understand system layouts and plan maintenance or repairs. Conducting daily facility walk-throughs to document and monitor mechanical parameters such as temperature, humidity, and equipment status for trend analysis. Utilizing the Building Management System (BMS) to monitor and verify the operational status of mechanical infrastructure. Logging all maintenance activities related to mechanical systems in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Applying safe working practices at all times, including lockout/tagout procedures and maintaining good housekeeping in mechanical work areas. Assisting higher-level technicians with advanced mechanical procedures as needed.
