Job Summary

Join our dedicated nursing team in Utica, New York, on a dynamic 56-bed Medical-Surgical unit with a strong focus on Oncology. This role involves providing comprehensive care to adult patients (18 years and older) presenting with a diverse range of conditions including oncology, hematology, nephrology, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and dermatological diagnoses, as well as general medical needs. Common patient diagnoses include various cancer types, End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), diabetes, and abdominal pain.

As a Registered Nurse on this unit, you will be responsible for managing complex patient cases, administering specialized treatments such as chemotherapy, and utilizing advanced medical equipment. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult patients with complex medical conditions, including oncology, hematology, nephrology, endocrine, GI, and dermatological diagnoses.
• Administer chemotherapy and other specialized treatments as per protocol and physician orders.
• Monitor patient conditions, interpret diagnostic data, and implement physician orders accurately and timely.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
• Document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Float to other units as required by hospital needs and patient census.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in Medical-Surgical and Oncology settings.
• Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Experience with adult patient populations (18+ years).
