Job title: Account Manager - General Line Location: Chicago Market Job Overview: Our Ingersoll Rand's Compression Systems and Services Customer Center is hiring a General Line Account Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the Customer Center equipment sales and service activity for a specific territory. Traveling in a defined geographic area, this includes quoting, strategizing, prospecting, and developing relationships to achieve revenue targets, maximize profits, increase market share and maintain customer loyalty while achieving organizational goals. The position blends supporting a major distributor and selling direct to customers. Responsibilities: Generate sales of equipment, service contracts, and service offerings with direct end users and partners within a defined geographic area. Develop existing customer base and secure new accounts to expand IR presence. Provide and design compressed air solutions to fulfill industrial customer needs. Execute continuous improvement strategy and exceed customer satisfaction. Achieve all assigned sales targets. Provide selling skills and product/services training for dealer sales personnel and customer center staff. Partner with services team to best understand products and satisfy and anticipate customer needs. Ensure all orders obtained are error-free with correct customer documentation and resolve all customer disputes. Manage all costs associated with selling efforts, including travel and entertainment expenditures. Ensure adherence to safety rules (vehicle safety, customer site safety) in the field and customer center. Earning customer loyalty by collaborating cross‑functionally and leveraging best support for customers. Maintain Customer Relationship Management database including customer interactions, assets, agreements, contacts, and opportunities. Record order follow‑up activities, reporting requirements, and provide feedback on market conditions. Drive and track sales pipeline and daily reporting. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required (engineering, engineering technology, business or equivalent preferred). 4+ years of experience in an industrial sales business setting. 1+ years of mechanical and electrical expertise required. Regional travel to customer sites is required within assigned geographic territory. Core Competencies: Excellent relationship‑building and interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Establishes and builds solid relationships with customers, key institutions and team members. Honest, self‑motivated and team oriented. Able to work within a team environment and independently. Ability to assess customer needs, analyze and interpret, perform basic equipment performance calculations, and recommend technical solutions. Proven business and sales acumen, including prospecting accounts, navigating customer organizations, value‑selling, and winning competitive accounts. Excellent prioritization and time management skills. Preferences: Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM experience preferred. Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements: Regional travel to customer sites is required within assigned geographic territory. Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months. Pay Range: The total pay range for this role, including incentive opportunities, is $60,000‑$175,000. This range takes into account a variety of factors including skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and geographic location. Eligible Hired applicants will receive nondiscretionary annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
