Dock and Door Technician

Raymond West is looking for a Dock and Door Technician to join our service team! The primary objectives of the Dock and Door Technician are: Proficient repair and service of customer equipment. Maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management. Represent and sell the entire company. Be profitable with direct labor billing. Work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA. Duties and Responsibilities Repair all types of Dock and Door equipment that RW sells and services. Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services. Update training and skills on a continuing basis. Train other employees as needed. Maintain a profitable billing level. Follow all Service Department procedures. Communicate with assigned Service leadership. Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion. Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work. Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work. Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable. Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle. Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable. Represent the entire company at all times. Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable. Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas. Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier. Report accidents whether self or customer. Account for 100% of available time during working hours. Must be willing to work overtime when necessary. Must coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor. Must follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook. Must follow safety procedures and use good judgment in regard to safety. Must be willing to work out of town as necessary. Establish a positive rapport with customers. Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers. Required Skills/Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments. Willingness to work off‑hours as specific needs dictate and to assume more responsibility as required. Ability to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner. Self‑motivated and able to manage time efficiently. Customer‑oriented and professional in behavior. Willingness to follow mandates and procedures of the Service Department. Ability to deal with customers on a face‑to‑face basis. Maintain a sound working relationship with other technicians and fellow workers. Must pass all available certificates appropriate to the position. Working knowledge of basic DC electricity, AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units of measure. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Raymond Level 1 Certified or working towards that goal, if applicable. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable points record, if applicable. Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list. Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level. Follow directions and be a team player. Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical abilities. Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance. Learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with flexibility. Motivated for continuous self‑development and training. Willing to assume more responsibility as required. Education / Experience High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Travel Requirement This position is field‑based and requires daily travel within assigned territories. Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company Fuel Card to cover vehicle expenses. Must be able to be insured by Raymond West. Physical Requirements Position is non‑sedentary. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision and depth perception. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. Frequent on‑site work where construction is underway. Frequent lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and maneuvering up to 125 pounds with assistance. Require use of hands for finger, handle, feel and reach tasks. Occasional exposure to smell, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. Exposure to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Exposure to wet/humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes, toxins, extreme cold/heat, vibration. Noise level can be loud. Pay Range The hourly range for this position is $25.00 – $43.00, influenced by experience, education, and location.
