We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations across multiple states, with a strong focus on California wage and hour compliance. This role is critical to ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll data. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, hands-on experience with payroll systems, and advanced Excel skills to support a fast-paced, compliance-driven environmen t.
Key Responsibilitie s:
- Process multi-state payroll accurately and in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Ensure adherence to California wage and hour laws, including overtime, meal/rest breaks, and final pay requirements
- Maintain and update payroll data in HRIS systems such as Paylocity, ADP Workforce Now, UKG, or Workday
- Audit payroll data, earnings, deductions, and timekeeping records for accuracy
- Utilize advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables) to analyze and reconcile payroll data
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and timekeeping with professionalism
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll information
- Support payroll reporting, audits, and compliance initiatives
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Hands-on experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS platforms (ADP Workforce Now, UKG, or Workday
- Strong knowledge of California wage and hour laws
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in high-volume or complex payroll environments
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations
Work Environment
- Fully on-site role in Vernon, CA
- Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Compensatio n: $75K to $85K
Benefit offerin gs: include medical, dental, vision, additional voluntary benefits, 401K plan.
