Shift Information 12‑hour shifts: 7:00pm–7:00am Shift differentials for nights, weekends, and holidays BSN differential Preferred Requirements Accept ADN, BSN, or MSN candidates Overview Alton Memorial Hospital, established in 1937, serves residents in Alton, Illinois, and surrounding five‑county area. It offers inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24‑hour emergency care, ambulance services, and more. The emergency department (ED) provides services to patients of all ages, from neonate to geriatric, with acuities ranging from minor illness and injuries to cardiopulmonary arrest. The triage system screens patients by severity of illness rather than first‑come, first‑served. A five‑tier triage system categorizes patients. Alton Memorial also operates the region’s only hospital‑based ambulance service. Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members, patient, and family or caregiver according to established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Maintains a constant state of alertness and works safely as BJC determines the role to be safety‑sensitive.
