Job Location: Avondale YMCA – Indianapolis, IN 46205 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $43,888.00 – $53,332.00/year Job Category: Maintenance Benefits Free Household YMCA of Greater Indianapolis Membership Paid Time Off and Sick Time Insurance 20 Hours Per Week of Free Child Care Flexible Hours/Scheduling Retirement Discounted Program Fees Professional Development General Function The Director of Buildings & Grounds will direct the cleaning schedule to ensure the proper operation of the facility and provide a clean, safe environment for members, volunteers, and staff. The Director will supervise 5-8 part-time employees over three shifts. Responsibilities Staff selection Scheduling Training and evaluation Inspection of work Investigation of complaints regarding maintenance/custodial services and taking corrective action Purchase department supplies Provide inventory updates of supplies/equipment Monitor the safety and cleanliness of the building Perform custodial and minor maintenance functions (approximately 40% of time) Qualifications KNOW HOW Must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma (Associate’s degree preferred) or its equivalent. Requires 3-5 years of direct experience and supervision of related technical aspects of housekeeping and general maintenance. Experience operating small and large machinery (e.g., vacuums, buffers, hand tools). Requires 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in a customer service-related area and assessing and solving related problems. Proven record of working independently with a high regard for safety. Strong supervisory, communication, and organizational skills. Obtain/maintain annual certifications in CPR AED and First Aid, and attend other mandatory trainings (New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention and Safety, Risk Management) within 30-60 days of employment. Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills with the ability to work independently, solve problems with minimal direction, manage multiple tasks, supervise and train staff, and communicate effectively with members, guests, and staff.
