Sr Scientist, Quantitative Bioimaging

AbbVie seeks a Senior Scientist to develop quantitative bioimaging and machine-learning approaches supporting immunology research. The role combines hands-on image analysis with advanced computational methods to characterize cellular and tissue phenotypes using multiple microscopy modalities and complex in vitro models.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize imaging assays and quantitative analysis workflows for 2D and 3D cellular and tissue models
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists, imaging specialists, and computational scientists from experimental design through data delivery
• Extract multiparametric features from high-content imaging datasets to characterize disease-relevant phenotypes and treatment responses
• Apply statistical and machine-learning methods to identify imaging biomarkers and relate phenotypes to molecular and functional readouts
• Establish quality-control frameworks to assess image quality, distinguish biological signal from artifacts, and define analytical criteria

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in engineering, biophysics, computational biology, imaging science, or related discipline with 10-12+ (BS), 8-10+ (MS), or 0-4+ (PhD) years experience
• Demonstrated experience in image segmentation, feature extraction, phenotypic profiling, or high-content imaging analysis
• Proficiency with at least one imaging modality such as confocal microscopy or high-content imaging
• Working knowledge of machine-learning or deep-learning methods for biological imaging with ability to evaluate model performance
• Proficiency with Python data-science tools including NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, or PyTorch
• Strong biological grounding, experimental rigor, and ability to collaborate with wet-lab and computational teams
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for diverse audiences
