Supervisor, Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Overview City/State: Hampton, VA. Work Shift: First (Days). The role is Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services for Acute Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Sentara Careplex Hospital. This position supports the Manager in daily 24‑hour operations of the unit. Emergency Department: 43 beds, including 11 fast‑track beds. Emergency physicians are board‑certified. Nurses receive specialized emergency care training and hold Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric certifications. Responsibilities Supervise patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, high‑quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience. Assist the manager with daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Develop and monitor the departmental budget, coordinate purchasing and payroll processes. Provide technical and clinical support to team members. Recruit, interview, hire, develop and retain staff; mentor and assist staff as needed. Coordinate or assist with staff education, orientation and precepting. Utilize effective communication and interpersonal skills and adapt leadership style to achieve department goals. Qualifications BSN from a credited Registered Nursing Program (required). Registered Nurse license or Compact/Multi‑state license (required). 2 years of nursing experience. 1 year of nursing leadership experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire. Valid RN license in the state(s) of practice. Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision plans.
