Water Resources Designer / EIT

As a Water Resources Designer / EIT in our Transportation Business Group, you will collaborate with engineers, planners, and environmental specialists to create sustainable water infrastructure that supports public safety and economic vitality. Responsibilities Work under project engineers on the application of various design engineering and modeling techniques in the development of water resource projects for federal, state, and local municipalities Focus on hydraulics and hydrology modeling, stormwater collection systems modeling, data collection, assimilation, and presentations Work on projects including flood control, river design, stream grade control structures, dike systems, levees, stream channel restoration/rehabilitation, wetland and lake restoration, watershed issues, and non‑point source loading as well as point source design Produce design calculations, draft technical reports, and perform water resources studies Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Local candidate with Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate Candidate without EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, standard CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software Self‑motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks Commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture is a must Location: United States – District of Columbia, Washington DC (primary location) with additional options in Virginia and Maryland.
