Job Description:

Medical Assistant – Laguna Hills, CA

Location: Laguna Hills, CA
Pay Range: $23.00–$25.00 per hour , depending on experience, credentials, and education
Schedule: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Laguna Hills, CA. The Medical Assistant plays an important role in supporting providers and delivering safe, high-quality patient care throughout the patient's treatment journey.

This position is responsible for rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs and screening information, preparing charts, assisting providers, performing phlebotomy and injections, processing laboratory specimens, maintaining clinical areas and equipment, and supporting the overall workflow of the practice.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, compassionate, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Essential Functions

Patient Care & Clinical Support

• Room patients and accurately document vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergies, pain scale, tobacco screening, and depression screening.
• Prepare exam rooms and patient charts for provider visits.
• Assist providers with patient care and clinical procedures.
• Perform blood draws, injections, and other clinical tasks within scope of practice.
• Assist with bone marrow biopsy procedures.
• Dispense medications/injections as directed and document appropriately and concurrently in the MAR.
• Perform medication double-checks to support patient safety and medication accuracy.
• Communicate with nurses regarding patients who are ready for infusion.
• Provide compassionate, professional, and customer-focused patient care.

Laboratory & Clinical Operations

• Process laboratory specimens and prepare them for shipment.
• Perform quality control procedures and maintain required temperature logs.
• Calibrate and maintain clinical equipment as required.
• Maintain laboratory supplies, genetic testing kits, reagents, and other clinical inventory.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of supplies and communicate needs to the team lead.
• Perform required equipment checks, including Piccolo and Cell-Dyne systems.
• Maintain required quality-control documentation and complete periodic equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Follow appropriate safety procedures, including monitoring sharps containers and maintaining clinical areas.

Administrative & Team Support

• Monitor MA and task inboxes, Teams, email, and other communication systems.
• Scan and upload documents as needed.
• Update IOD spreadsheets and other required records.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Clean, organize, and restock exam rooms between patients and at the end of the day.
• Complete assigned training and maintain required competencies.
• Support satellite clinic operations and travel to other clinic locations when necessary.

Education & Experience

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with certification.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong phlebotomy skills.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory procedures.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
• Previous Oncology/Hematology experience preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, with occasional walking.
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Must be willing and able to travel to satellite clinics as needed.
• Must be willing and able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must comply with all applicable clinical, safety, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Compensation

$23.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience, credentials, education, and other relevant qualifications.
