A Train Staffing is NOW HIRING a Purchasing Agent in Fontana, CA!

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Agent to support purchasing operations for a large food distribution center. The ideal candidate will have experience with vendor management, purchase orders, pricing negotiations, and administrative purchasing functions.

This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, management, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and organize vendor files, including credit applications, insurance documents, W-9 forms, certificates of insurance (COIs), and other required documentation.
• Obtain and maintain vendor agreements, including vendor letters, MVAs, W-9s, and COIs.
• Support the creation, processing, and fulfillment of purchase requests and purchase orders.
• Source products, materials, and supplies by researching and identifying potential vendors.
• Obtain competitive pricing by requesting and comparing multiple vendor quotes.
• Communicate with vendors to discuss pricing, product availability, and purchasing requirements.
• Work closely with the Accounting Manager, General Accounting Manager, Group General Manager, and other management personnel regarding purchasing activities.
• Track vendor communications and correspondence through phone calls, emails, and other communication channels.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
• Assist with resolving purchasing discrepancies, vendor issues, and order-related concerns.
• Ensure purchasing activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform additional purchasing and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, vendor management, or a related administrative role preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Ability to manage multiple purchasing requests and priorities simultaneously.
• Experience working with purchase orders, vendor documentation, and pricing comparisons preferred.
• Ability to communicate professionally with vendors and internal management teams.
• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Experience in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or food distribution environment is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

• Occasional travel is required.
• Must be willing and able to travel to other facilities, attend meetings, or participate in vendor-related events as needed.
• Must be flexible to accommodate business and operational needs.
