Managing Director & Partner, Industry Discovery

As Managing Director & Partner for Pharmaceuticals/Finance/Materials, you will own the entire commercial lifecycle for your sector: from sourcing the right problems, to convincing the world's best companies that we're the partner to solve them, to closing deals that fund breakthrough research. This is not a project execution role. This is a business-building role — you define what we work on, who we work with, and how we win. Responsibilities Client development. Engage leading companies in the industry and build deep relationships with R&D, technology, investment research, and business leaders, positioning Apodex as the partner for their most important questions. Project selection. Work with technology leaders to assess whether an answer is yet unknown, can be verified in reasonable time, and what it is worth. Take on only problems that are valuable and deliverable. Deal negotiation. Align with clients on success criteria, validation timelines, and buyout pricing, leading contract negotiations through to signature. Process management. Maintain client relationships during lab operations, coordinate validation and data supplementation, and drive successful projects to completion and buyout. Network building. Develop industry partners, channels, intermediaries, and verification partners (Reality Partners) responsible for accepting deliverables. Team development. Participate in the recruitment and selection of industry technology leads, progressively buildingand scaling the industry team. Qualifications 10+ years of senior experience in the relevant industry, with deep understanding of market dynamics, key players, and decision chains. A proven track record of independently developing clients and closing deals, not merely executing projects. Ability to converse directly with clients' technology leaders: understanding their problems and judging what matters most. Experience with milestone- or success-based transactions, such as drug licensing, technology licensing, or M&A. A genuine interest in AI, having used it and thought deeply about what it can change. Equity as a Partner — this is a leadership role with real ownership, not a title. Build from zero — shape the industry practice, the team, and the deal pipeline.
