Our organization is a 437-bed teaching hospital located about 40 miles from New York City, in West Islip, Long Island. This area is rich in culture and history, offering a wide variety of attractions and activities. Families can take advantage of excellent school districts and numerous recreational opportunities. Our hospital employs nearly 900 physicians and serves approximately 950,000 patients each year across the southern shore of Long Island, and is recognized as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACSCoT).

We provide care to the largest pediatric population on the South Shore of Long Island. Our Pediatric Emergency Department, staffed by pediatricians and fellowship-trained pediatric emergency medicine specialists, handles over 20,000 visits annually. We are proud to offer Suffolk County's only freestanding Center for Pediatric Specialty Care, with additional satellite centers in Nassau County and Eastern Long Island. Our children's program encompasses services from our Level III Neonatology Unit for the tiniest patients through to adulthood. The Pediatric Specialty Center features a comprehensive range of pediatric specialists, including those in gastroenterology, neurology, neurosurgery, endocrinology, genetics, pulmonology, hematology, infectious diseases, developmental medicine, and nephrology. Our facilities include a four-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a 16-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a dedicated pediatric unit. The Department of Pediatrics is staffed around the clock by pediatric hospitalists, neonatologists, and three pediatric intensivists, along with seven pediatric anesthesiologists and support from pediatric radiologists and pathologists. We also have a specialized Pediatric Emergency Department that operates 24/7 with physicians trained in pediatric emergency medicine.

In addition to our extensive inpatient services, we operate general pediatric outpatient practices. Our organization also trains residents through an accredited pediatric residency program and fellows in pediatric emergency medicine, fostering a collaborative environment focused on evidence-based practices, continuous learning, and high-quality care. As a vital member of our team, you will oversee and mentor residents during their pediatric surgery rotations.

Our hospital is recognized as an ACSCoT Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, a Level I Adult Trauma Center, a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Bariatric Center of Excellence, and an ACS Commission on Cancer accredited facility with a Cancer Institute. We are also a Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery. Our nursing team is among the top 8% of hospitals nationwide to achieve ANCC Magnet Recognition®, reflecting our commitment to the highest nursing standards and interdisciplinary collaboration. We support seven closed intensive care units, including cardiothoracic, cardiac care, neuroscience, pediatric, neonatal, surgical, and medical ICUs. Our open-heart program, The Saint Francis Heart Center, is also part of our offerings. We have residency programs in emergency medicine, family practice, podiatry, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. Recently, we completed a significant modernization project, opening a new six-floor patient care pavilion and pediatric emergency department in December 2025. We are currently looking for a board-certified, board-eligible, or fellowship-trained pediatric surgeon to join our team. The pediatric surgeon will be fully integrated into the Department of Surgery within the Division of Pediatric Surgery.

Salary Range: $532,411 - $650,000
