The Support Service Worker II (SSWII), Bilingual position sits with the Communicable Disease (CD) Unit of the Public Health Division within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This position provides support to the CD Unit which includes the following programmatic areas: Acute CD (including COVID), Immunizations, Tuberculosis (TB), Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), HIV, and HCV. Primary responsibilities include processing incoming reports of disease, assisting in case and contact investigations, data entry into various platforms including the State's CalREDIE and CalConnect databases for communicable diseases, the statewide immunization registry, and supporting the CD program during outbreaks, surges, and emerging public health priorities. Within the TB program, the position provides Direct Observed Therapy (DOT) for clients receiving medication for TB, video DOT, and supports other functions within the TB program. Within the STI program, the position conducts point-of-care testing for HIV, HCV, and Syphilis and health education at priority locations such as Marin County Jail. This position participates in community outreach and education (for all CD programs), including screening and data collection at vaccination clinics, sharing resources and information about connection to services, and public health guidance. This position receives certification training on HIV/HCV/STI testing, AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) enrollment, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Assistance Program (PrEP-AP) enrollment. This position is four days in-office or as needed. There is currently one (1) vacant full time (1.0 FTE), bilingual position within Public Health and supporting CD. This position is expected to be in the office four days a week. Bilingual Testing / Certification The successful candidate must possess bilingual skills and must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English prior to appointment. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidates possess the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements.
