School Bus/Van Driver- 30 - 40 Hrs. Guaranteed + 12,000 Sign On BONUS

$34-36 per hour for big bus assignments
$28-$32 per hour for van assignments
30 - 40 hours guaranteed each week!

Position Summary

Cathay Express Transportation is hiring school bus drivers to transport students attending nonpublic and special education programs throughout Cattaraugus, Allegany, Erie, and Wyoming counties, as well as surrounding areas. Drivers are responsible for safe vehicle operation, reliable route performance, and the safety of every student on board.

Responsibilities

• Transport students safely according to district-approved routes and schedules.
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking every seat after each run.
• Supervise student loading and unloading and follow all authorized-release instructions.
• Work with assigned matrons or attendants to support students with special needs.
• Operate wheelchair lifts and secure mobility devices when assigned and trained.
• Maintain communication with dispatch and immediately report accidents, delays, breakdowns, student incidents, or route concerns.
• Complete required mileage, attendance, time, inspection, and incident records.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and service ready vehicle.
• Attend required orientation, safety, defensive-driving, and refresher training.
• Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude with students, families, school personnel, and the public.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State CDL appropriate for the assigned vehicle, with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
• Must satisfy New York State Article 19-A.
• Acceptable driving record and current driver abstract.
• Ability to pass required medical examinations, drug and alcohol testing, fingerprinting, and background checks.
• Ability to receive participating school district approval before assignment.
• Reliable attendance for morning and afternoon assignments.
• School bus or special-needs transportation experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to safely enter and exit the vehicle, conduct vehicle inspections, operate accessibility equipment, assist during emergencies, and satisfy required medical and physical-performance standards.
