Employment Type: Full time | Shift: Rotating Shift | The Preop/PACU department at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s averages about 30 cases per day. The registered nurse will see pre‑surgical and post‑surgical care cases. The nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 1:2 in the PACU and a new patient can be expected in preop every hour. This is a fast‑paced department with great energy and teamwork. Staff are cross‑trained in preop and PACU, offering opportunity to gain additional skills and interact with different patient populations. The team is comprised of tenured staff who mentor new colleagues. Within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, the Registered Nurse RN provides care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs and collaborates in the spirit of teamwork, accounting for patient care and documentation. Position Purpose The registered nurse will provide nursing care in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment, ensuring patient safety, promoting evidence‑based practice, and upholding the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program standards. What you will do Provide nursing care, ensure an environment of patient safety, promote evidence‑based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibit professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®. Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice. Collaborate with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components. Accurately communicate pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner. Keep patient/family apprised and updated. Document accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines. Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate from a school of nursing. Licensure/Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. For Casual RNs: 2 years of experience is required. All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.
