How you make a difference The Physician is responsible for assessing and treating patients’ physical health, conducting exams, coordinating outside referrals, and overseeing clinical care activities provided by ARNPs. The role includes documentation, after-hours on-call responsibilities, and collaboration with psychiatric and interdisciplinary staff to ensure integrated care. Travel may be required; work is primarily in correctional or clinical settings. The physician educates patients and families, ensures safety procedures, and tailors treatment plans to the patient’s age and development. Key Responsibilities Assess patients’ physical health through examinations and diagnostic procedures Provide and oversee documentation, outside referrals, consultations, and follow-ups Offer clinical oversight and support to ARNPs, including care provision and documentation review Perform minor medical procedures such as sutures, IV placement, and lumbar puncture Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff and provide education to patients and families Qualifications & Requirements EDUCATION Medical doctorate (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university EXPERIENCE Two (2) years post-residency clinical experience in an outpatient/inpatient setting Psychiatric experience preferred LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Licensed in the state of employment Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and applicable certifications Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine Additional Details 1 day per week, 8 hours.
