The district headquarters is located in Des Moines, with branch offices in Davenport and Council Bluffs serving the eastern and western divisions. Responsibilities Handle a wide variety of complex criminal cases, including drug trafficking, money laundering, terrorism, firearms and other violent crimes, child exploitation and sex trafficking, cyber‑crimes, immigration crimes, and financial fraud. Manage all phases of prosecution: grand jury investigations, pre‑trial proceedings, trials, sentencing hearings, and appeals. Qualifications Required J.D. degree and active membership in the bar of any jurisdiction. At least two years of post‑J.D. legal or other relevant experience. At least three years of litigation experience preferred. Preferred Superior oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment. Ability to work with minimal guidance in a demanding environment. Demonstrated record of integrity and a successful evaluation in the past year. No disciplinary action within the past three years. Ability to work collaboratively and to lead, mentor, and evaluate attorneys. Conditions of Employment Must be a United States citizen or national. Initial appointment conditioned upon satisfactory pre‑employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment subject to favorable background investigation. Must be registered with Selective Service, if applicable. Must reside in the district or within 25 miles. Appointment Type Permanent. Salary Information Pay ranges from $77,371 to $197,100, including locality pay. Travel Occasional travel may be required. Relocation Expenses None.
