Commercial Billing Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Billing (Primary Focus)

• Prepare, review, and issue customer invoices for natural gas transactions based on contractual pricing, volumes, and pipeline data
• Validate deal tickets, pricing, and volume data against contracts and internal systems
• Coordinate closely with traders, schedulers, and commercial teams to ensure billing accuracy
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, variances, and customer inquiries
• Maintain detailed billing records and supporting documentation for audit and reconciliation purposes
• Support monthly close activities including accruals and revenue recognition

Accounts Receivable (Secondary)

• Monitor customer accounts and track outstanding receivables
• Assist with cash application and reconciliation of customer payments
• Follow up on past-due balances and support collection efforts
• Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve payment issues

Credit & Risk Support (Limited Exposure)

• Assist in maintaining customer credit files and documentation
• Support credit reviews, exposure tracking, and limit monitoring
• Coordinate with credit team on new customer setup and ongoing risk assessments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of experience in billing, accounting, or commercial operations (energy industry experience strongly preferred)
• Experience with high-volume transactional billing and reconciliations
• Exposure to AR, cash applications, or credit analysis is a plus

• Solid Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
