Job Description Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center is seeking an Agricultural Station Farm and Grounds Technician located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The successful candidate will aid in the maintenance of the gardens, research and demonstration areas, and general grounds at the Center. This role involves assisting the Grounds and Facilities Manager with agricultural and landscape maintenance, including but not limited to site preparation, planting, pest management, fertilization, irrigation, mowing, and harvest. The incumbent must obtain a Virginia Pesticide Applicators License within 150 days of the employment start date. Required Qualifications Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in landscape, horticultural farm, greenhouse, or nursery work, or an associate’s degree in Horticulture, Turf, Agronomy, or a related field. Experience with agricultural equipment for land preparation, irrigation systems, and landscape maintenance equipment. Experience operating forklifts to move equipment and supplies. Pay & Benefits Pay band: 3. Salary range: $37,000 – $42,000; commensurate with experience. Hours per week: 40. Overtime status: Non‑Exempt; eligible for overtime. Appointment type: Regular. Additional Requirements Must obtain a Virginia Pesticide Applicators License within 150 days of employment start date. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all seasons. Criminal conviction check and driving check required.
