Unit Notes 4IC PCU RN - # of Beds: 4IC 32 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: Depending on acuity: 1:4-6 - Required Certifications: BLS required - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: 4IC is generally post catherization patients. Manage sheaths and TR bands. TAVR experience preferred. Serves as the overflow for 3E so ability to care for chest tubes. Also, medical population requiring tele monitoring. - Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: All drips except pressors, paralytics, and TPA - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes - and most of the time they take an assignment - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes - 1:15ish for care techs - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Cpap, BiPap, and High flow on floor. Respiratory is in house and can assist. We do place patients on and off but RT sets the rates. - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: We have centralized tele monitoring. However, RN's read strips once a shift, and if change in rhythms. - Shifts & Scheduling: Self scheduling but subject to change to present a balanced schedule - Weekend Requirements: 6 weekend shifts in a 6 week period - Holiday Requirements: 2 summer and 3 winter - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: No - Floating Requirements: Yes - may be pulled to the Floors - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: Galaxy Blue - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1-2 shifts
