Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Parker Rustproof's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure products and processes consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. This position leads quality personnel, continuous improvement, customer issue resolution, and audit readiness, including preparation for and coordination of NADCAP audits. The Quality Manager partners closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Sales, suppliers, customers, and external auditors to reduce defects, improve process capability, and sustain a culture of compliance and operational excellence.
Essential Responsibilities
· Develop, maintain, and continually improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
· Ensure compliance with customer specifications, applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures.
· Lead internal audits and coordinate customer, certification, and regulatory audits.
· Investigate customer complaints and internal quality concerns using structured root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methods.
· Monitor and report key quality metrics, including scrap, rework, first-pass yield, customer returns, nonconforming material, and corrective action closure.
· Establish and maintain inspection procedures, quality standards, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria.
· Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities and ensure appropriate segregation and disposition of nonconforming product.
· Manage the calibration system for inspection, test, and measuring equipment.
· Analyze quality and production data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
· Partner with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Sales to resolve quality issues and improve process performance.
· Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured problem-solving methods.
· Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and training materials.
· Train employees on quality standards, inspection methods, customer requirements, and applicable special-process controls.
· Manage supplier quality concerns and coordinate supplier corrective actions when required.
· Participate in APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, and customer-specific quality activities when applicable.
· Promote compliance with company safety, environmental, and housekeeping requirements.
NADCAP Audit Preparation and Compliance
· Serve as the primary coordinator and company lead for NADCAP accreditation and surveillance activities.
· Prepare the facility for NADCAP audits by reviewing applicable PRI audit criteria, AC checklists, customer specifications, and supplemental requirements.
· Plan and conduct internal pre-audits, gap assessments, process walk-throughs, and readiness reviews before scheduled NADCAP audits.
· Maintain the procedures, work instructions, objective evidence, records, training documentation, qualification records, and process-control documentation required for NADCAP compliance.
· Ensure the shop floor is continuously audit-ready, with current specifications, controlled documentation, properly identified materials, calibrated equipment, and complete traceability records.
· Coordinate audit schedules, logistics, document requests, and on-site activities with PRI auditors and customer representatives.
· Lead responses to NADCAP nonconformances, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective action development, timely submission, and effectiveness verification.
· Use PRI eAuditNet or other required systems to manage audit preparation, submissions, findings, and accreditation records.
· Monitor revisions to NADCAP requirements, aerospace customer specifications, and applicable special-process standards; communicate and implement changes across the organization.
· Coordinate employee training, competency evaluations, and periodic requalification activities required by NADCAP and customer specifications.
· Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering to ensure special processes remain controlled, repeatable, and compliant.
· Report NADCAP readiness, open risks, corrective actions, and accreditation status to senior management.
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing quality experience.
· Five or more years of manufacturing quality experience.
· Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience.
· Working knowledge of quality management systems, corrective action, document control, inspection, and continuous improvement.
· Experience using root cause analysis methods such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, or similar tools.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and the ability to analyze and present quality data.
· Strong written, verbal, organizational, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Preferred
· Experience preparing for and successfully managing NADCAP audits.
· Working knowledge of PRI eAuditNet and applicable NADCAP audit criteria.
· Experience with aerospace special-process requirements and customer specifications.
· ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or similar certification.
· ISO 9001 internal or lead auditor certification.
· Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
· Experience with automotive, heavy-equipment, industrial, or aerospace customers.
· Experience with ERP systems and quality data-analysis software.
Knowledge and Skills
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, process requirements, and customer-specific requirements.
· Familiarity with GD&T, measurement techniques, Statistical Process Control (SPC), PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
· Strong leadership, coaching, project management, and decision-making abilities.
· Ability to communicate effectively with shop-floor employees, customers, suppliers, auditors, and senior management.
· High attention to detail with the ability to balance compliance, customer satisfaction, and production needs.
Performance Measures
· Successful achievement and maintenance of NADCAP accreditation.
· Timely closure and sustained effectiveness of NADCAP and customer audit findings.
· Reduction in customer complaints, internal scrap, rework, and repeat nonconformances.
· Improvement in first-pass yield and process capability.
· On-time completion of internal audits, corrective actions, calibration activities, and employee quality training.
· Supplier quality performance and customer satisfaction.
· Year-round audit readiness and adherence to controlled procedures and specifications.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
· Ability to walk throughout the manufacturing facility and stand for extended periods during inspections and audits.
· Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
· Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
