We are pleased that you are interested in career opportunities offered at MICA.Position Title: Adjunct Faculty, User Experience (UX) DesignDepartment: School of Creative and Professional Studies (SCPS)Program: Bachelor's of Design in User ExperienceStatus: Part-time, AdjunctFormat: 100% Online, Asynchronous (8-week terms)General purpose: To provide instruction for undergraduate students in MICA's new online Bachelor of Design: User Experience Design program, which is launching in Fall of 2026.Program Description: The purpose of the Bachelor's of Design in User Experience (UX) Design degree is to equip individuals with the technical art and design skills to become UX designers while also preparing them to engage with UX design as a professional practice. The BDes also provides graduates with complex knowledge around the application of universal and human-centered design principles within the context of designing digital products with the user at the forefront. This program carefully balances design theory with applied, practical experience through studio courses, portfolio building, critiques, dynamic faculty, and industry partnerships.Summary of Essential FunctionsDevelop and maintain an engaging asynchronous online learning environment via Canvas.Provide core instruction to satisfy primary learning objectives of the assigned course(s).Provide written or video-recorded feedback on student assignments within 48 hours of submission.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintain consistent communication with students by holding at least one hour of regular virtual office hours every week and replying to any student communication within 24 hours.Maintain a consistent presence in the online classroom of 4 days in a 7-day cycle.Provide feedback within 48 hours of student work, including providing timely written and/or audio/video feedback via Canvas and keeping a gradebook with grades posted within 72 hours of each module completion.Maintain the Canvas course throughout the term. This includes updating the syllabus, setting assignments with due dates, and providing tutorials and other materials to students as needed to help students meet learning outcomes.Meet faculty expectations as defined in the Asynchronous Instruction Policy.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of UX/UI theory and practice.Professional experience in UX/UI.Comfortable using technology in an asynchronous online learning environment, including Canvas and video conferencing platforms.Ability to demonstrate pedagogical knowledge of your specific subject area, with an emphasis on asynchronous instruction.Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field5 years of related professional experiencePreferred qualifications:Master's degree in a related field10 years of related professional experienceConditions of Employment:Conditions: Background CheckSalary: $4,515.00 - $7,656.00 (commensurate with experience)Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
